The Waterfront Festival is back and feeling even fresher for the break. After going into isolation last summer, the popular event returns with a stacked lineup of musical talent, drinks and food to sample, in any order you want.
The Waterfront Festival will begin on Saturday February 19 at 12 p.m. before ending in the evening at 10 p.m. The following day will feature another kick-off at 12pm before ending for the year at 8pm.
The event will feature three live music stages on the move, with the Garden Bar Stage hosting big names such as Sneaky Sound System, Gretta Ziller, Andrew Swift, Miss Lizzy and the Night Owls and for that early 90s nostalgia Jack Jones of Southern Sons notoriety.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.
Frankston Youth Services will control the emerging artists scene which will feature all the local young talent the area has to offer, as well as a host of interactive activities and games to entertain the crowd.
For those looking forward to a drink in the sun, the Waterfront Festival will feature a bouquet of beers and wines from around Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, an area well known for its ability to produce a great drop. After dancing and drinking a hunger, all your food needs are also sorted with plenty of food trucks available for you to choose from, scattered around the compound.
Frankston City Council pulls out all the stops with the ever-popular Ventana Fiesta. The celebration of Latin culture will feature lots of noise and color, including popular Mexican wrestling as well as the chance to experience some of their local cuisine.
There will also be a number of rides on offer for thrill seekers, as well as the Dreaming Space presented by EastLink, including circus activities and a blazing fire show to round out their Saturday night schedule at 7 p.m.
Although you are likely to get pushed around after a big day filled with fun and entertainment, it is recommended that you hang around until late on Saturday evening as the evening will end with a stunning fireworks display which will kick off at 9.45pm to send your house.
The festival will be accessible to all, with plenty of activities for children, adults and the young at heart. The Waterfront Festival is the perfect summer weekend to set the start of the year in the right direction.
The event will take place on the Frankston Waterfront, Pier Boardwalk and Long Island Preserve over the two days. For more details visit their website here or follow the festival on both and instagram.
