Sam Fender is working on a whole new sound in an effort to break America

He’s won UK awards, number 1s and plenty of admirers, but Sam Fender hasn’t broken into America yet.

However, that’s about to change as the crooner prepares for his third album with a new, danceable sound.

We can reveal that Sam is working with UK super-producer Markus Dravs, who has worked with Coldplay, Wolf Alice, Bjork and Florence + The Machine.

Markus is well established in the United States and has landed three Grammys, so he knows the formula for success there.

A source said: “Sam has had a blinding few years in the UK and his next move is to try and break America.

“It’s no small feat, but with the right team around him, he definitely has what it takes to knock their socks off.

“He’s already mastered the melodic indie rock genre, but record label bosses are hoping his collaboration with Markus could add a different vibe to his sound and include potential up-tempo dance hits.”

Sam is not afraid to spread his artistic wings. Last month he revealed he had teamed up with Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Mark Knopfler on a superstar song.

He revealed: “We sting us FaceTimes from time to time, strangely I always end up in the bath.

“We were in the studio the other day. I did a charity event with him and Mark Knopfler.

“I just did some guitar stuff, which was the most annoying thing ever.

“I’m going to play guitar on a Mark Knopfler song – he’s one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Springsteen is on it too.”

But not all of his encounters with superstars end so well.

Last week he apologized for posting a photo of himself in Newcastle with Johnny Depp and calling him a ‘hero’ on the same day the verdict was delivered in the defamation case of the actor against ex Amber Heard.

Sam said: “I realize now that was a poor choice of words and timing.”

In front of a sold-out crowd, his magnetic presence ushered in the low BPM beat of comeback single Spitting Off the Edge Of The World.

From there, New Yorkers quickly turned up the heat. Karen O’s head jerked up quickly, the microphone buried deep in her mouth like old times.

The distorted synth-disco of Heads Will Roll sent the crowd into a spin in a shower of confetti, and a ferocious Date With The Night brought the proceedings to a halt.
