Nine years of preparation and every second of waiting is worth it.

We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to present a first listen to ‘Discontent’, the brand new EP from the iconic With the blows.
Being their first release in nine years, the band have a lot of catching up to do, and they do it in an absolutely amazing way. Bringing their own brand of heavy, heartfelt pop-punk that crashes into modern times with a smile plastered on their faces, these are five of the most perfectly crafted and wonderfully catchy examples of the genre you’ll hear this year. Familiar yet fresh, it feels like the start of a new chapter for WTP, and there’s plenty to be excited about.
Guitarist Dustin Wallace had this to say about writing the tracks and what the future holds:
“We couldn’t be more excited about the new songs that are coming out. We never stopped writing when we were on break, and every few weeks a demo would go around, but there wasn’t really any rush to do that. Everyone was trying to focus on their life outside of music, but in 2019 we had our first weekend since 2013 and after that there seemed to be a bit more fire in everyone.
We started talking more seriously about recording the songs, the production of demos increased and we scheduled time to record with our friend Brendan Williams at Gain Stage studios in New Paltz, NY… for the second week of March. So we came in just when the world stopped and followed most of the record but then a few other things had to be added and the comeback took a long time with Covid but then Nate from Mutant League Records reached out and the record got completed and it all kind of came together.
A little later than expected, but we kept working on more songs during this time, so it feels really good now that everyone’s personal life is a little more stable and we’ve all found the place where we we can do the band without it completely monopolizing our time. There seemed to be this idea when we took a break that With The Punches was over, but we never felt that, it just couldn’t be what it had been forever, it had to grow as we all grew .
Now we get the best part of it, writing songs, hanging out together and playing shows when it works for everyone.
So, without further ado, here we go.
Listen. Love. Repeat.
