How to mute screenshots on iPhone and Android?

Screenshot audio is enabled by default on most phones. However, if you take screenshots at night or in quiet places, you can turn off the screenshot sound.

But how do we turn it off? The easiest way to turn off the screenshot sound is to simply enable silent mode or change the screenshot sound settings.

In this article, we will tell you how to turn off the screenshot sound.

How to mute screenshots on a phone?

There are several methods to mute the screenshot sound on iPhone and Android. These methods are simple and will not take much time. Here are the top 7 methods you can try.

Use switch/slider

One of the best ways to mute the screenshot sound is to use your device’s alert slider or mute switch (if available). You can easily and quickly turn off the sound without going into settings and turning off the sound. However, these switch buttons are only available on iPhones and OnePlus (Android).

If you want to take screenshots from these devices, you can simply slide the silent switch (on iPhone) and slide the alert slider (on OnePlus), which will activate silent mode and can take a screenshot screen without sound.

Disable screenshot sounds from settings

There is a built-in setting specifically for Android to mute its sound while taking a screenshot. You can disable this feature and take a screenshot without playing sound. Unfortunately, there is no such feature on the iPhone. And most Android manufacturers don’t offer this feature either. So you need to find this option on your device and disable it if you are using Android.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to sound and vibration.
  3. Scroll down and tap Additional parameters.

  3. Wait a second and say, “Take a screenshot.” It will not make noise when taking a screenshot. Take a screenshot

Or, if you are in a situation where you cannot speak, you can activate the Google Assistant by pressing the assigned button. Once the Google Assistant is open, you can tap the keyboard icon to open the keyboard, and you can type “Take screenshot”, which won’t make a sound.

If you are an iPhone user, you can use Siri to take a screenshot, but it will make a sound when taking a screenshot.

Use Do Not Disturb (DND)

This is another option you can consider to turn off the screenshot sound. Enabling DND will disable all sounds and alerts. However, it only works for Android. Turn down the volume on your device

We get it, it doesn’t completely mute the sound of the screenshot, but it can get the job done. Turning your device’s volume all the way down can produce a very small sound that people won’t even notice. So it’s another way to take a screenshot with little or no sound.

Connect to Airpods or headphones

This is one of the easiest and simplest options you can consider without worrying about making a sound while taking a screenshot. You don’t need to activate a silent function or fuss.

If you have a wireless or wired headphone/earphone, connect it to your device. When you take a screenshot, instead of the sound coming from your device’s speaker, it will come from your connected headphones/headphones, which only the person wearing them can hear. Therefore, you should definitely try this to avoid screenshot sound.
