Get ready for sound and thunder at the Milton Rooms

Renovation work is progressing well at the Milton Rooms in Malton as the exciting new program of events for 2022 is ready for launch in April.

The revamped Milton Rooms website is in the works and new modern lighting and sound systems are being installed in the main lobby and Studio Bar.

Additionally, the main venue is being redecorated at the end of March, which resulted in the cancellation of Ryedale Blues Club on March 31, where Redfish were scheduled to play. Moondogs, whose concert was scheduled for April 1, has been rescheduled to appear on November 26.

Meanwhile, tickets continue to sell well for Fairport Convention, the legendary folk-rock band which celebrates its 55th anniversary this year. They visit the Milton Rooms on Friday May 20 as part of their spring tour.

The tour will feature a mix of long-established favorites and a few surprise tracks from albums old and new, including their latest, Shuffle & Go, which was released in 2020.

The band consists of founding member Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, who was part of the original line-up in 1967, longest serving member Dave Pegg, who also played with Jethro Tull, on bass, Ric Sanders on violin, Chris Leslie on violin, mandolin and vocals and Gerry Conway on percussion.

Lisa Rich, Site Manager of Milton Rooms, said: “We can’t wait to get our new program started and in April we are also delighted to welcome back Brass Castle’s Beertown Festival and Ryedale Youth Theater’s Easter production. by Matilda The Musical Jr.
